国际田联2008年度最佳运动员评选程序已经启动,在今年的评选过程中,《体坛周报》获得了国际田联的认可,进入媒体评审团,拥有了宝贵的投票权。
投票过程分为两个环节。首先是专家投票环节,这一环节将由所有成员来参与,这部分票数在整个投票过程中占有70%的比重。另一个环节则是公众投票,国际田联在其官方网站的重要位置设置了投票链界,全球的田径爱好者都可以通过网络给自己认为最值得获得奖项的运动员投出宝贵一票,这部分票数将占30%的比重。国际田联已经事先给出了一份男女各十人的候选大名单,其中男选手包括在鸟巢大放异彩的牙买加飞人尤塞因·博尔特和刘翔的小对手古巴新科奥运冠军戴隆·罗伯勒斯,女选手则包括撑杆跳高女皇俄罗斯名将叶莲娜·伊辛巴耶娃,以及今年黄金联赛百万黄金的拥有者、肯尼亚长跑新星帕梅拉·杰丽莫。而不论是专家还是网友,每一次投票都可以选出男女各三名运动员,得票数最高的前三名将进入决选,由国际田径基金会最后决定男女各一名年度最佳。投票过程将于摩纳哥,也就是国际田联办公所在地的当地时间11月9日午夜截止。而在11月23日,国际田联一年一度的颁奖夜宴上,决选结果才会最终公布。
不过令人惋惜的是,由于在北京奥运会上的意外退赛,中国跨栏飞人刘翔的名字未能进入这张候选人名单,这是自从2004年他在雅典奥运会上夺冠以来的第一次落选。

北京时间11月11日消息,在国际田联年度最佳男女运动员网上投票截止的同时,国际田联网站上再度推出了男女年度最佳表现的评选。
去年国际田联最佳表现奖是直接国际田联专家提名后,由国际田径基金会组成的特别评审团决定产生。今年则采用了与男女年度最佳一样的网上评选,网友可以投票选出心中年度最佳表现奖的候选,最终男女最佳表现将各产生三名候选人。
博尔特依然是候选名单中最耀眼的名字,北京奥运会上他独得三金,9秒69打破百米世界纪录,19秒30刷新200米世界纪录,并率领牙买加队夺得4x100米接力冠军,这三个惊人的表现全部都获得了最佳表现奖的提名。
古巴小将罗伯斯12秒87打破刘翔保持的110米栏世界纪录同样被列入了候选,这也是罗伯斯继去年之后再度成为候选。
此外万米天王贝克勒以及女子方面伊辛巴耶娃、迪巴巴、杰里莫也都榜上有名。这六人同时还是男女年度最佳的最终候选人。

摩纳哥当地时间23日晚,国际田联年度颁奖典礼将盛大开幕。作为受邀嘉宾,刘翔师徒已于21日晚从上海飞赴摩纳哥。不过,这一次刘翔不在最终入围名单内,也就无缘国际田联开出的男女最佳各10万美金的巨奖。
作为一年一度的年度颁奖典礼,这一次的颁奖典礼格外引人瞩目。据了解,国际田联邀请了包括刘翔在内的众多明星出席,届时将有全球100多个国家对颁奖晚会进行现场直播。摩纳哥时间23日晚20时,这项备受瞩目的国际田联年度颁奖典礼将在艾特瓦里萨兰的艾特运动俱乐部举行,届时国际田径基金会的名誉主席普林斯.埃尔伯特 (HSH Prince Albert II)和国际田联主席拉明·迪亚克将亲自为男女最佳运动员颁奖。
目前,经过网上和专家媒体的投票后,入选的男女最佳运动员都已经揭晓。男子入围选手分别是埃塞俄比亚的男子10000米奥运会冠军贝克勒、牙买加的“闪电侠”博尔特和古巴的男子110米栏奥运会冠军及世界纪录保持者罗伯斯。女子入围的选手分别是埃塞俄比亚的10000米奥运会冠军蒂·迪巴巴、俄罗斯的女子撑竿跳奥运会冠军及世界纪录保持者伊辛巴耶娃和肯尼亚的女子800米奥运会冠军杰利莫。
这个周末,国际田径基金会的一个特别评判委员会将开会商议这上述六位选手的特点,然后决定高达20万美金的归属,其中最终胜出的男女选手都将分别获得10万美金的巨奖。届时,无论是贝克勒还是博尔特,或者罗伯斯,中国飞人刘翔都将在嘉宾席上为获奖的选手致贺鼓掌。
